MTYAA Baseball Code of Conduct

The MTYAA Baseball organization strives to provide a rewarding and worthwhile experience for everyone involved -  players, coaches and family. In order to do so, MTYAA Baseball has established a Code of Conduct that establishes that kind of behavior we expect to see at games and practices.

1.                   I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth not adults.

2.                   I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.

3.                   I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect, courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players

4.                   I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player or parent such as booing, taunting and refusing to shake hands or using profane language or gestures.

5.                   I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect.

6.                   I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.

7.                   I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.

8.                   I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.

9.                   I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

10.               I will participate FULLY in the Mandatory Fundraiser as set forth by MTYAA Baseball. 

I also agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action included in but not limited to the following:

·          Verbal warning by official, head coach and/or director of division, head of league organization. (OR any MTYAA Baseball Board Member present at the time that is not involved in present game)

·          Written Warning - The offending person is to be advised in writing of the offense and further advised that repetition of the offense shall result in a more severe penalty.

·          Parental Game Suspension - The offending person is to be advised in writing that he/she has been suspended from all League activity for a specific number of games or days.  

·          Parental Season Suspension- The offending person is to be advised in writing that he/she has been suspended from present and future participation in the League for the remainder of the current season.

Baseball is a high-stress spectator sport; getting caught up in the game is one of its pleasures. But whether you’re a parent or a volunteer, sometimes it’s really easy to get too caught up in the events going on around you. Should this happen please stop and remember why we’re here

1.                  I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at every practice and game.

2.                  I will show respect toward all coaches, players, league officials, umpires & spectators

3.                  I will follow team rules & directions as set forth by the coaching staff.

4.                  I will make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices

5.                  I will not question an umpire’s call.

6.                  I will not engage in the use of profanity or any other offensive language.

7.                  I will not taunt or humiliate any other player.

8.                  I will not abuse, mistreat or mishandle any equipment or property (i.e. throwing bats or helmets etc...)

9.                  If I am in violation of this code of conduct, I understand that I could lose my status of being a Member in Good Standing with MTYAA Baseball and I shall be subject to disciplinary action that could include but is not limited to the following:

·         Verbal warning by league official and/or  umpire  to my coach for unacceptable behavior

·         Player ejection from a game involving any MTYAA Baseball team as first offense will lead to suspension for the remainder of the current game as well as suspension from the next league game.

·         A second offense of player ejection will jeopardize my privilege to participate in any or all MTYAA Baseball sponsored activities for the remainder of the current baseball season including any post-season play of that current year.
