Shetland division (tee-ball) is for 4 to 6-year-old players. Focus is on introducing fundamental skills and on teamwork. All playing time is equal and the entire team bats each inning. All players play in the field on defense, with a regulation infield and the remainder of the players in the outfield. Games are 60-90 minutes long on Saturdays. We do not keep score at this level.

If your child has played Shetland for two years in MTYAA, then he/she may play up in Pinto (even if he/she is 6). Email: pinto@mtyaabaseball.org if your child is in this situation and wants to play up.

Season begins in early March. Season will end by mid-June. Generally, one practice during the week and one game each Saturday during the main season. All players get a shirt and a hat. Bats, safety balls, helmets provided, but we do ask players to bring a glove.

Note from Director and Registrar for the 2020 season: If you are making a coach or buddy request please know that the league will do its absolute best to honor this request, however it is not always possible. The league was able to honor almost all requests last year, however we will be trying to decrease team sizes although no player who played last year will be moved to a different coach on a different team unless requested. Additionally if a coach has moved on to Pinto a team may be reshuffled into other teams. The league does follow this format for priority placement when forming teams:

1) Returning Players

2) Siblings of Returning Players (All siblings are placed together, if they have a different last name it is helpful to let us know)

3) All other requests, honored in order from date of registration to the best of our ability.

The league also takes schools into consideration when forming teams. If your child does not yet attend Elementary school please list the school you foresee your child attending as well as their preschool. This will provide an opportunity to make friends before Kindergarten!
