Shetland Division
Shetland baseball is played with T-Ball style rules, all players bat and field each inning. This division is open to players ages 4-6 as of August 31st. The emphasis of this division is on learning the basic baseball skills. Score is not kept and players continue to run bases even if out (teams have the option of enforcing outs halfway through the season but all players still bat each inning).
While there is a coach and assistant coach for every team, parents are highly encouraged to help out with practices and games (background check required). The league tries to keep team sizes to 10-12 players but teams sizes will depend on number of coaches and registrations as we don't want to turn away any child at this age.
Players need to have their own glove. Cleats are optional and the league provides coaches with team helmets and bats. Each player will receive a team hat and shirt that they can keep after the season has ended.
Shetland teams have 1-2 practices and 1 game per week (games start 2-3 weeks into the season). Each team will play 10 games in addition to the Jamboree.
All games are held at the Forest Crest field. Practices will also be held at Forest Crest but could be at other fields depending on the number of teams each season.
